Celebrity surrogacy: famous parents by surrogacy

A quick 'magazine-style' look at celebrity parents by surrogacy.

The journey to parenthood is rarely a straight line, but for many, it is a beautiful mosaic of resilience, hope, and the selflessness of others. In recent years, more and more families have found their missing piece through the incredible gift of surrogacy, proving that while the path to bringing a child home may vary, the love that awaits them is universal.

From Hollywood icons like Priyanka Chopra and Nicole Kidman to more recent 2026 arrivals like Meghan Trainor’s daughter, Mikey Moon, A-list celebrities are opening up about their surrogacy stories with profound gratitude. By sharing their vulnerable and miraculous experiences, these stars are doing more than just expanding their own families - they are shining a warm, supportive light on a path that was once whispered about, helping to destigmatize surrogacy and celebrate the modern miracle of how families are truly made.

In celebration of these incredible stories, here’s a rundown of some of the biggest stars who have built their families through surrogacy and what the experience has meant to them.

Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas: The powerhouse film and radio couple welcomed their daughter, Malti Marie, thanks to surrogacy in early 2022. She has been quoted praising her surrogate, calling her “generous, kind, lovely and funny”. In response to critics speaking against the way she built her family, Chopra has said this: “You don’t know what I’ve been through. And just because I don’t want to make my medical history or my daughter’s public doesn’t give you the right to make up the reasons.”

Kim Kardashian: After experiencing life-threatening complications (placenta accreta) during her first two pregnancies, Kim welcomed her younger two children, Chicago and Psalm, through the help of gestational carriers. To those who claimed Kardashian took this path due to vanity, she is clear: "Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong. If I could do it myself, I would have." She regularly refers to surrogacy as “the best thing I ever did”, attributing her positive experience to her warm and trusting relationship with her two surrogates.

Elton John & David Furnish: Pioneers in normalizing surrogacy for same-sex couples, they welcomed their sons Zachary and Elijah thanks to a surrogate who carried both boys. They have stated that they have deep affection for their surrogate, who is “like a sister” to them. He has also emphasized a "duty of care" toward her, remaining fiercely protective of her anonymity to ensure she can lead a private life despite the global fame of the family she helped create.

Meghan Trainor & Daryl Sabara: After carrying her first two sons, Meghan revealed in early 2026 that she and Daryl had quietly welcomed their third child, daughter Mikey Moon, thanks to the support of a surrogate. Meghan has been quoted calling her surrogate a “superwoman”, saying she’s one of the most “selfless and strong” people in the world.

Jimmy Fallon & Nancy Juvonen: The host of the Tonight Show and his wife struggled with infertility for five years before welcoming their daughters, Winnie and Frances, through surrogacy. Jimmy and Nancy have opened up on numerous occasions about the toll that infertility took on them, as well as the lengths they took to try to conceive and carry, and have been a staunch advocate for surrogacy ever since.

Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban: After the birth of their first daughter, the couple welcomed Faith Margaret thanks to the help of a gestational surrogate in 2010. Despite being famously private on matters of her personal life, Kidman has spoken about the "profound gratitude" she feels for the woman who helped complete her family. Nicole has said that "mothering comes in many forms” - and she means it. Her eldest two children were adopted, she delivered her third child, and her fourth was born through surrogacy.

Paris Hilton & Carter Reum: The entrepreneur couple welcomed both son Phoenix and daughter London in 2023 through surrogacy. For Paris, the choice to pursue surrogacy was largely influenced by the trauma she endured as a teenager - something she took heavy criticism from when she announced the birth of her son. Her PTSD from early abuse was largely labeled as an excuse, when the reality is that psychological medical needs are a completely valid reason to pursue surrogacy.

Anderson Cooper: The CNN anchor became a father to sons Wyatt and Sebastian thanks to surrogacy, sharing his profound joy at becoming a dad as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. "As a gay kid, I never thought it would be possible to have a child,” he has said about the experience, “and I’m grateful for all those who have paved the way."
